Like a scary campfire tale

Paul Krugman tells the tale of a mysterious cult demanding obedience to unnatural practices leading up to their calls for human sacrifice.It sounds strange and spooky because it is strange that their calls go against all reality and spooky because otherwise sensible people have succumbed to this sinister cult worship.
