All sports suffer from shitty officials
But the US World Cup team looked about to be snakebit by that for the second game in a row. In the game against Slovenia, the referee pulled a foul out of his ass to disallow the winning goal for the US. Today another US goal was disallowed on a chimerical offside. The US team did not help themselves by missing several "gimmes" on goal. Fortunately they were able to shutout Algeria as they waited until stoppage time to finally score a goal that would stand.
