Someone is finally noticing

The shift in government policy away from individual citizens in favor of our corporate masters. The NY Times takes a look at one such shift in the so-called Justice Dept.
In a major shift of policy, the Justice Department, once known for taking down giant corporations, including the accounting firm Arthur Andersen, has put off prosecuting more than 50 companies suspected of wrongdoing over the last three years.

Instead, many companies, from boutique outfits to immense corporations like American Express, have avoided the cost and stigma of defending themselves against criminal charges with a so-called deferred prosecution agreement, which allows the government to collect fines and appoint an outside monitor to impose internal reforms without going through a trial. In many cases, the name of the monitor and the details of the agreement are kept secret.
So they are on double, super secret probation for their crimes but you can't find out how they are doing because you don't know what they are supposed to do or who is supposed to oversee them. Diabolical!

Comments:
Finally! It was all over for me when teh Bushco gave up the HUGE award won in the courts for the American people by the Justice Dept from Big Tobacco.

You know, as an older veteran and long-time registered voter, I am just plain amazed by the electorate in this country. Someone said you get the government you deserve, and I am thinking more and more that this fuckwit population has got just exactly what it deserves. The unwillingness to stand up to the Bush Crew, has resulted in EXACTLY the story you tell here.
