Ann Coulter threatens a sitting federal judge

Which is a violation of 18 U.S.C. Section 115, anyone who "threatens to assault, kidnap, or murder . . . a United States judge . . . with intent to impede, intimidate, or interfere with" that judge's duties is guilty of a felony.
Coulter had told the Philander Smith College audience Thursday that more conservative justices were needed on the Supreme Court to change the current law on abortion.

Stevens is one of the court's most liberal members.

"We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens' creme brulee," Coulter said.
Anyone wishing to may contact the US Marshall Service here or file an FBI crime tip here.

Comments:
Unfortunately you had to be thorough and include the intent portion. Her intent was to get her name on people's lips today, not interfere or intimidate.
She succeeded.

It wasn't a real threat, it was a joke. It's called "free speech." To even suggest that she should be imprisoned for that statement is more outrageous than 'Crazy Coulter's' bad joke.

ADAM - It has long been recognized that some types of speech are not free and protected. Crying 'Fire' in a theater is the classic example, incitement to muder would also be included.

Anonymous - I believe we should let the Marshalls Service determine her intent.
