Our Dear Embattled Leader is scared
Why else would the White House put out a statement about an opposition primary? One can see the state party leaders or even Ken "Queen of the RNC" Mehlman doing so, but the is no reason for ODEL to even notice the results.
The White House accused the Democratic Party on Wednesday of catering to the extreme left after Connecticut voters defeated Sen. Joe Lieberman in a primary election over his support of the Iraq war.Interesting remarks right after the extreme right of the Republican party drove out a moderate who disagreed with ODEL.
Foreshadowing a debate likely to play itself out in November congressional elections, White House spokesman Tony Snow called the election a defining moment for the Democratic Party.
"I know a lot of people have tried to make this a referendum on the president. I would flip it. I think instead it's a defining moment for the Democratic Party whose national leaders now have made it clear that if you disagree with the extreme left in their party, they're going to come after you," he said.
