Ambassador Crocker doing it the hard way
According to the latest reports the new Ambassador to Afghanistan is working to allay fears that the US will abandon Ye Olde Shithole. He is using lots of soothing words but he should just tell the Afghans the truth. They are our new colony, the minor drawdown is just to fool the rubes at home, we will be in your country our new colony for a thousand years. That would allay everybody's fears and probably cause the Taliban to just give up, grab their ankles and enjoy it.
