Rep. Peter King, New York's Biggest Asshole
The Obama administration has scored a conviction in the civilian trial of the first Guantanamo prisoner.Because all of the counts of murder were thrown out due to Bush administration incompetence in gathering evidence, Pete King, NYBA, is jumping in front of every camera he can find to declare the civilian courts a failure.
“This is a tragic wake-up call to the Obama Administration to immediately abandon its ill-advised plan to try Guantanamo terrorists” in federal civilian courts, said Representative Peter King, Republican of New York. “We must treat them as wartime enemies and try them in military commissions at Guantanamo.”So despite the best efforts of the Bushies, the civilian court did get a conviction and a jail term longer than any of the Gitmo Kangaroo Courts have yet achieved and Pete King, NYBA and soon to be chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee says it was bad. Adding political force of such criticism, Mr. King is set to become the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in January, and he promised to use oversight hearings to pressure the administration over its handling of terrorism trials.
