It's just one fucking bad idea after another
Probably the worst idea of this administration was that if the GOP minority would not compromise with the Democratic majority, they would have to compromise with themselves. And drive a harder bargain than the GOP ever could. And that seminal bad idea has brought forth a veritable cornucopia of bad ideas. The latest:
The White House has decided to begin funding private companies to carry NASA astronauts into space, but the proposal faces major political and budget hurdles, according to people familiar with the matter.Because, you know how well private enterprise is at cutting corners, cooking books, using second rate materials at first rate prices and putting profit before everything else. The controversial proposal, expected to be included in the Obama administration's next budget, would open a new chapter in the U.S. space program. The goal is to set up a multiyear, multi-billion-dollar initiative allowing private firms, including some start-ups, to compete to build and operate spacecraft capable of ferrying U.S. astronauts into orbit—and eventually deeper into the solar system.
