Republican senators shoot down AMT reform

Despite the usual obfuscatory manure from Mitch McConnell, the attempt to reform the AMT before it hits the middle class again was stopped cold by the Republicans. Don't believe it? Count the votes.
Forty-four Democrats and two independents, Senators Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut and Bernard Sanders of Vermont, voted for the bill. The 48 “no” votes were all cast by Republicans, except for that of Mr. Reid, who voted “no” only to preserve his right to bring up the measure again under Senate rules.
One procedural vote from Harry Reid and 47 heartfelt votes from the Republicans.

Who loves ya, baby?

UPDATE: The AP is reporting that a deal has been reached to pass AMT reform. At this time details are sketchy.
