Monday Music blogging

Looking at the faces in the crowd, this old cynic had to wonder how many of them voted for Bush.

Comments:
Probably none of them voted for Bush. The College Republicans of the day were too busy wearing suit and ties and carrying briefcases to class. The average American young person of the era probably was listening to bubblegum pop or, at the grittiest, Sgt. Barry Sadler rather than Phil "Phil Who?" Ochs. Just look at the sales figures for Phil's albums vs., say, The Beach Boys' albums. No comparison. The Beach Boys sold more album in a month than Phil sold in his whole life.

We are the same nation we've always been. It's just that it becomes more apparent with age, as our true nature no longer bothers to hide itself from plain view.
