Friday Night Airplane Blogging

The P-40 Warhawk was the US Air Corps frontline fighter at the beginning of WWII. Though best remembered with the baleful eye and sharks teeth design of the Flying Tigers, the majority did yeomans work in the more mundane color schmes like that in this picture. Making up for its shortcomings with extreme ruggedness, it served around the globe from the Aleutians to the Pacific, the CBI, North Africa and Italy. Over 14,000 were built.
